4 Pines - Brisbane

Imagine stepping into the newly transformed 4 Pines micro-brewery at the base of the iconic Nomads Hostel on Edward Street. As you approach, the scent of freshly brewed beer mingles with the historic charm of the building, drawing you in. The venue, once known as Z-Bar, now boasts a refined yet rustic atmosphere, perfect for a discerning city crowd.

Upon entering, your eyes are immediately captivated by the rich textures and layers of the building’s history.  The exposed brick walls, achieved through a clever brick slip cladding system, exude a timeless appeal, while the concrete and timber floors add a touch of industrial chic. The original hand-painted sign proudly instructing patrons to “Drink More Milk” remains a nostalgic nod to the venue’s past.

The bar area is a sensory delight. The timber-clad bar, with its smooth, warm surface, invites you to take a seat on one of the keg stools. The reclaimed railway sleepers used for tables add a rugged charm, their weathered surfaces telling stories of journeys past. Overhead, a metal gantry in blackened steel, adorned with growler bottles and festoon lighting, casts a soft, inviting glow.

As you settle in, the sound of guitar-laden tunes fills the air, creating a lively yet relaxed ambiance. The bar layout remains largely unchanged, but the refreshed cladding and fabric selections breathe new life into the space. The two large timber railway sleeper tables opposite the bar can comfortably accommodate up to 11 patrons each, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.

For those seeking a more intimate experience, the smaller nooks fitted with timber shelves and high seating offer cozy, secluded spots. The combination of durable materials and thoughtful design ensures that the space is not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical and sustainable.

Every detail of this micro-brewery has been carefully considered to create an unpretentious vibe and a personable service model, embodying the ethos of 4 Pines Brewing Co. It’s a place where history and modernity blend seamlessly, offering a unique and memorable experience for all who visit.
