Simon & Catherine Tebbutt downsized from a large family home in Seaforth to a 3-bedroomed Californian Bungalow in Balgowlah…then upsized with a bit of style!

Central to the success of this project was Catherine’s brief. She has always loved old houses so when extending the house at the back, she was determined to retain the character of the original house at the front. However, with the natural wonder of stunning sunsets and district views, the back of the house needed to be built for contemporary living and entertainment.

What Catherine loves: “I really love the ornate detail of the ceilings, trim and woodwork in the old house, but also the family friendly kitchen diner and west facing balcony - ideal for sundowners.”

What Architect Paul Lucas loves: “I love the combination of the Californian style bungalow and newly built Hampton’s style space. It’s quite different, but really works well together”.
