Newtown Heritage House

Cradle Design collaborated closely with the client to transform a once run-down terrace in Newtown into a high-end, modern home with a minimalist appeal. The contemporary architecture and design feature an open plan living, dining, and kitchen area, adorned with mid-century furniture, including the owner’s cherished antique record player and sideboard.

As you step into the living area, the scent of polished wood and the soft hum of the antique record player create a nostalgic ambiance. The kitchen, inspired by 1950s interior design, delights the senses with its pastel pinks and blues, complemented by retro Smeg appliances. The smooth, cool surfaces of the countertops and the gentle click of the appliances add to the retro charm.

Natural light floods the dining area through strategically placed skylights and a wall of glazed bi-fold doors, which open to reveal lush tropical gardens. The gentle rustle of leaves and the scent of blooming flowers blend seamlessly with the indoor space, creating a serene indoor-outdoor living experience.

The second bedroom, featuring original French doors, opens onto the main veranda, inviting the fresh air and garden scents inside. The master bedroom, a tranquil retreat, opens onto a peaceful rooftop garden, where the soft rustle of leaves and the distant sounds of the city create a perfect sanctuary.

This remodel not only revitalises the terrace but also harmonises modern design with nostalgic elements, creating a home that is both stylish and inviting.
