Southern Cross Austereo - Sydney
Australia’s biggest entertainment company appointed Cradle Design to design the refurbishment of their Sydney headquarters at World Square. Cradle developed a comprehensive corporate design strategy and master plan, optimising the use of existing workplaces and creating new work settings, gathering areas, and business group locations. The primary vision was to transform the workplace into an environment that reflects all SCA’s media brands.
Key areas completed include a stylish reception and front-of-house suite of meeting rooms, a new staff kitchen and breakout facilities, casual meeting hubs, and new work points. A key planning goal was to encourage interaction by moving people around the four floors. Levels 13 and 16 now house new meeting, kitchen, and breakout facilities accessible to staff across all levels. The world-famous rooftop area can now host board meetings, presentations, and functions, as well as popular gigs.
Unique to the project, each meeting room was named after a celebrity, with finishes selected based on the room name. For example, the Beyonce boardroom features elegant and rich colours and textures, with a credenza and mini kitchenette finished in a brushed titanium gold reflective surface.
Critical to the project’s success and business continuity, the corporate architecture had to be completed amidst live-on-air broadcasting, ensuring the existing recording studios remained fully functional throughout the design process.
This project is one of three modern workplace designs for Southern Cross Austereo spanning two states.
