Sealy NSW Bedding Plant
Cradle Design was tasked with transforming the Sealy NSW Villawood facility into a state-of-the-art manufacturing and workplace hub. As you step into the newly refurbished 40,000 sqm warehouse, the first thing you notice is the seamless blend of industrial strength and modern elegance. The exposed steel structures and retained tilt-up concrete panels with their rugged aggregate finish exude a sense of durability and robustness, while the warm timber accents in the reception area invite you in with a welcoming touch.
The expansive warehouse, now equipped with new recessed and on-ground loading docks, hums with activity. The air is filled with the rhythmic sounds of machinery and the faint scent of fresh timber and new materials. Natural light floods the space, thanks to the two new courtyards that punctuate the single-floor layout, creating pockets of greenery and tranquillity amidst the bustling environment. These courtyards serve as serene extensions of the meeting rooms, showroom, and office areas, offering landscaped breakout spaces where employees can recharge.
Inside the workplace accommodation, the design prioritizes functionality and comfort. The open-plan workstation areas are bathed in natural light, fostering a productive atmosphere. The commercial-standard kitchen and breakout areas buzz with the chatter of staff, while the showroom and training facilities stand ready to impress clients and train new employees. The meeting rooms and offices are designed with precision, ensuring a professional yet comfortable environment for all.
Outside, the site has undergone significant enhancements. New driveway access, ample car parking, and emergency service access roads ensure smooth operations. The upgraded fire hydrant protection system, installed by Holmes Fire and Safety, provides peace of mind. The landscaping, meticulously planned by Place Design Group, adds a touch of nature to the industrial setting, creating a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetics.
The refurbishment of the Sealy NSW Villawood facility by Cradle Design is a testament to thoughtful design and meticulous planning, resulting in a space that not only meets but exceeds Sealy’s high standards.
What Sealy love: “We love how the design responds to the operational requirements of the business. Cradle Design had an excellent understanding of the brief and delivered beyond our expectations.”
What Architect Regan VanderWelt-Walsh loves: “I love the way we transformed a derelict shell of an industrial building to the needs and requirements of our client, Sealy. It was as if it had always been their home.”
